Maphara A Jazz back again - with feeling
Mc Millan Nephawe a.k.a Man Malaya and Leonard Malatji a.k.a Lenny Sbechu of the John Vuli Gate fame known as Mapara A Jazz have released a single, Feeling.
Amapiano duo Mapara A Jazz has released a new single titled Feeling featuring well-known as well as up-and-coming artists.
The duo rose to fame after the release of the amapiano hit, John Vuli Gate in 2020.
Wikipedia defines the amapiano genre as a style of South African house music that is “a hybrid of deep house, jazz and lounge music characterised by synths, airy pads and wide percussive basslines”.
The genre is also distinguished by high-pitched piano melodies and kwaito basslines.
When they met up with Vukani at Rands in Khayelitsha recently, they said they feel confident that their new offering will be even more popular than John Vuli Gate.
Mc Millan Nephawe known as Man Malaya described Feeling as a dance track that is sure to take the continent by storm.
“Amapiano is a global success. They are loved too much. But we are also here to produce new artists. This genre has taken over the dance floors and keeps on growing,” said Man Malaya.
The song generally reflects on party life, fun and dancing up at night, he told Vukani, because that’s what the amapiano genre is about.
Explaining why they often choose to collaborate with other artists, the duo said they believe that for artists to grow, they need to collaborate.
They have been to Kenya, Botswana and other continents because they collaborated with other artists, they said.
Leonard Malatji known as Lenny Sbechu said soon they will be heading back to Kenya to push the song because they are loved in that country. “We come to these countries with a different culture. That is what people love. We do go overseas and play their genre, something they have but we come with our unique style. Amapiano is unique and fresh. That is why people love it,” he told Vukani.
