Passion Play Ministries will present He’s Alive from Tuesday April 18 to Sunday April 23 at the Bellville civic theatre, from Tuesday to Saturday at 7.30pm and matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday at 2.30pm.
The play is a dramatic representation of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.
Bronwyne Scott, from Rugby, has been directing this production for the past 20 years.
The chairman of the Cape Town board, Melvyn Abrahams of Matroosfontein, plays the role of Jesus.
The disciple Peter is played by Chris du Plessis from Goodwood alternating with Jean-Marcel Alexander from Bonteheuwel. The role of John is portrayed by Michal Meiring from Goodwood
Ricardo Johns from Northpine plays the role of Caiaphas the high priest, Jack Hine from Melkbosstrand plays the role of Annas the father-in-law of Caiaphas and Kevin Thyssen from Belhar plays the part of Pilate.
Nicodemus is played by Darryl du Toit of Tableview.
Mary the mother of Jesus is portrayed by Lizelle Botman from Belhar alternating with Miriam Kleynhans who also lives in Belhar.
Mary Magdalene is portrayed by Carne Felix who lives in Kraaifontein alternating with Collette Faurie who also lives in Kraaifontein.
They will be supported by about 100 extras.
“This drama touches lives. People simply come and watch and their lives are forever changed as they witness in drama the awesomeness of God’s love and forgiveness,” says Scott.
