Khayelitsha musician Linomtha has released her much anticipated new EP, Mdali Wento Zonke.
The Ndiyala hitmaker shared the EP's artwork Monday March 3 on her Facebook account before releasing it to the public on Sunday March 9 after teasing fans about the new music.
In Mdali Wento Zonke (Creator of All) she speaks to God, questioning him on many issues including the rife crime.
She asks God why it seems as if he has abandoned his people, and seeks mercy and forgiveness. “We live in a broken society, where is he?” one line says.
The new release is made up of three tracks, Ncuma, Uxolo and a remake of Ndiyala. In Uxolo, she apologises to her heart for falling in love with the wrong guy. She has denied that the song is based on her crush on musician Big Zulu.
Talking about the new offering and the people she worked with, Linomtha said: “I am extremely excited to be continuing to produce the best music for my people. My music speaks to everyone. One needs to listen to it and it will serenade him/her. The music appeals to all, young and old. I have worked with genius people, people who love and know music. I am grateful to Samro and MWINKO Productions and my brother, Phumlani Vokovi,” she said.
She said she was happy that in just weeks online, the EP is doing well on YouTube and Spotify.
She recently took to social media to thank music lovers for following her and downloading her music.
