Residents says they have reported the matter many times over the years but no one seems to care about their health.
Nobonke Nkwali said the drains need to be fixed because they are constantly blocked.
She said she fears for the health of their children and vulnerable members of their community.
They cannot accept living in such a dehumanising environment.
“We only want the City to fix these problems so that we do not find ourselves having to jump around the streets fearing that we might step into human faeces. We are calling on the city to prioritise this as a matter of urgency so that we could live a decent and normal life like others. We should not even have to call a newspaper for City works. I hope that our pleas won’t fall on deaf ears,” she said.

Ward councillor Khayelethu Khama said he had reported the matter on numerous occasions to the City.
He said overflowing blocked drains is one of the challenges in his ward which causes an endless headache because it is not attended to.
It is indecent for residents to live in such horrible conditions, said Mr Khama.
The City of Cape Town had not responded to queries by the time of publication.
