Langa hosted a free Thanksgiving concert at Guga’sthebe Hall on Saturday, August 30, to mark the close of Women’s Month.
The event was organised by Pride Concept with local artist Queen Sinda, who dedicated her performance to her late grandmother.
“This concert is both a tribute and a celebration. My grandmother passed away on Women’s Day in 2022, and I wanted to honour her legacy by sharing the music that reflects her influence on my life,” she said.
Queen Sinda showcased songs from her single album, notably the heartfelt track Uthando, which pays homage to the woman who shaped her into the artist she is today. In an effort to ensure that seniors could attend, she offered complimentary tickets to pensioners, providing refreshments and a warm atmosphere.
“I wanted our seniors to feel valued and included in this celebration of women,” she said, adding that their presence made the occasion even more special.
The concert also served as a platform for emerging artists struggling to gain exposure in a competitive industry. Through this initiative, Pride Concepts sought to uplift young talent, believing that they embody the future of South African music.
“Young artists face numerous challenges, such as funding and experience, which can hinder their growth,” said Michael Bagapi of Pride Concepts.
“This event is dedicated to showcasing their skills and boosting their confidence in front of an audience.”
As the evening unfolded, the sound of clapping and singing echoed throughout the hall.
“Ending Women’s Month with this concert was a way to give thanks to everyone who has supported us,” said Mr Bagapi.
“We couldn’t have done it without the people of Langa and the artists. It is our hope that this becomes an annual event, one that celebrates our heritage and talents while drawing tourists to our beautiful community.”
