The hall was filled to capacity as contestants tip-toed on the stage in an effort to grab the coveted Miss Philippi Secondary School title.
Programme directors Luphumlo Madiba and Lutho Tyulu compered the show with great vigour ensuring that each contestant got a roaring applause they approached the judges’ table.
In the judging panel there was notable presence of the current Miss Teenage South Africa, Iminathi Dondolo, who felt the pageant was of a high standard.
“The aim of the event was to motivate the youth so that they too can believe in themselves. Who better to influence the youth than youth members themselves,” said Iminathi.
Teacher and contest organiser, Ziyanda Nathaniel, said they were moved by learner support for the event.
“There was a great atmosphere and all learners really appreciated every moment of the show. This was a fund-raiser for the school and I must say it was well supported,” said Ms Nathaniel.
Learner Representative Council member Ndumiso Soyama also congratulated the winners and declared every participant a winner.
“There are no losers here, you all came and performed to your best abilities. Some will find future careers in modelling because they started here. Maybe we laid a foundation for a future Miss SA here,” said Ndumiso.
