The klopse calender is in full swing.
Day 1 of that much anticipated Athlone Stadium kick-off takes place tomorrow, Wednesday January 1, drawing weekly audiences of 20 000 people every Saturday until February 1.
Throughout the year, The Klops Kamer welcomed teams from all over Cape Town, who shared their stories and preparations for what is to be a spectacular event.
Among this year’s line-up are West London All-Stars, Phantoms Community Development, Playaz Inc, Young TV Stars Community Development, Posh Vibrant Youth Development, Wesbank Youth Entertainers, Juvie Boy Entertainers, Philadelphians Sporting Club and Youth Development, Cape Town Hawkers, Ashwin Willemse Orient Community Development, Original District Six Hanover Minstrels, Fabulous Woodstock Starlites, Mannenberg Superstars, Mitchells Plain Young Tycoons Academy, and The Original Famous Wild Apaches.
Kaapse Klopse Karnival Association (KKKA) operations director, Riyaad Peters, said this year’s “Voorsmaakie” already set the tone for this year’s event.
“The Voorsmaakie always kicks off the season with a bang and judging on how successful this weekend’s season opener went, we anticipate another jam-packed schedule of Klopse fun,” he said.
Building on the success of this event, attention has now turned to the huge Hollywoodbets Cape Town Street Parade, taking place on Saturday January 4, where up to 100 000 spectators are expected to gather along the route, which starts in District Six, continuing via Darling Street, and ending in Bo-Kaap.
