Three people died when their shack caught alight on Thursday August 25 in Heinz Park.
Spokesperson Jermaine Carelse said the City’s Fire and Rescue Service responded at approximately 6.30am to shacks burning in Daffodil Street.
The first arriving officer from Gugulethu Fire Station made a quick assessment to contain the fire before it spread to more property.

Several persons were displaced and the fire was extinguished just before 7.30am.
The cause of the fire is not yet known and the scene was handed over to the South African Police Service.
