Basketball action: Cape Town Sharks, Hustlers and Unity collect wins in Gugulethu

Eight teams have been selected for the Kasi Invitational Games' floating trophy tournament

It's all to play for in the Kasi Invitational Games' floating trophy tournament set to take place at the Gugulethu sports complex on March 23 and 30. 

Eight teams have been selected in two groups under a knockout setup with winner taking it all. 

Group A is made up of Mitchell's Plain's Gladiators Basketball Club, Mbekweni Shaq Squad, Gugulethu Hustlers and Hout Bay Hurricanes. 

Group B, dubbed as a fierce group, respectively, consists of Nyanga's Cape Waves, Langa Kings, Cape Town Sharks and Unity Basketball Club. 

With two weeks left until the tournament, the teams are heavy in training. Their commitment was evident in week seven of the Kasi Invitational Games' friendly matches, at the Gugulethu sports complex, this past Sunday, March 9.

After some end to end action, Unity got the better of Gladiators with a narrow margin of 49-46. 

With the ladies match between Cape Town Sharks and Khayelitsha canceled, the focus shifted into the men's team.

Cape Waves lost to the Cape Town Sharks men's team by 58-45 in an entertaining second match of the day. 

Hosts, Gugulethu Hustlers won with an astounding score of 82-36 against Crossroads in the final match last Sunday. 

The friendly matches will continue at the Gugulethu sports complex on Sunday, March 16. 

The Kasi Invitational Games inaugural Floating Trophy tournament will feature Gladiators, cape Waves, Mbekweni Shaq Squad, Langa Kings, Gugulethu Hustlers, Cape Town Sharks, Hout Bay Hurricanes and Unity Basketball Club. It is a knockout setup played on, March 23 and 30, in Gugulethu.
