Salt River Blackpool FC’s Super Sevens heated up Shelley Road and neighbouring streets over the weekend. Kicking off last Friday April 26, this grassroots football extravaganza is in full swing until Wednesday, May 1.
With 272 teams from 80 different clubs and 798 matches, it’s a week packed with passion and competition.
Teams hailing from KwaZulu-Natal and across the Western Cape; from Hout Bay to Ocean View, the event has more than 3 264 participants giving it their all.

The host club, Salt River Blackpool’s juniors, left, Umar Khan, Rania Wyngaard and Raiyan Solomons were in fine form throughout the group stages. They played against Hamiltons Football Academy in the under-7 division.
Greenwood’s Mueez Nazier and Joel Geneva closing in on defense against Ashford United’s Ariah Shanglee and Brooklyn Kayde, in an under-7 match, at Shelley Road. Mueez scored a hat-trick in their last group game against Sunningdale City.
It was a tussle between Tramway and Hout Bay’s under-14 sides. With his shin guards hanging, Liam Sims defended well against Matt Levy.
