Western Cape Climbing (WCC) recently played host to the South African National Climbing Federation (SANCF) Youth World Championship Selections 2024, at CityROCK in Paarden Eiland and Bloc 11 in Diep River.
With over 110 athletes from all over South Africa competing in the Lead, Speed and Boulder disciplines for the chance to qualify for the Youth World Championships being held in China later this year, the stakes were high.
But with climbing in the Western Cape on the rise, the standard of climbing has increased dramatically over the last few years, and the Western Cape Climbing Team dominated proceedings, winning almost 60% of all medals on offer.
