Members of Khayelitsha police station donated clothes and food to residents of Taiwan in Site C who had lost their belongings in a fire.
In partnership with various government stakeholders, the station donated bags of clothes and provided lunch for fire victims on February 28.
Spokesperson Constable Asanda Daweti said their station commander pleaded with them to extend a helping hand to the victims.
She said this plays a vital role in strengthening the relationship between them and the community.
They want to show the community that they were not there to scare or intimidate residents but to bring peace and unity.
"We are human beings before being police officers. We have a duty and responsibility to play an active role in bringing about change in our community."
Community leader, Mzimasi Mofu, said they were grateful for the help.
He said there are still people who have not finished rebuilding their homes and need help.
