Young ballers ready to set the football stage ablaze

Five footballers from Khayelitsha, Langa and Philippi, were selected from the Youth Day’s Friendship Cup Tournament hosted by Joburg Strikers and the Sisa Mbekeni Foundation and to take part in the Supersport United Soccer Schools training assessment, over the June School Holiday’s.

After the assessment the stand a chance to take part in the Iber Cup, one of the continent’s biggest youth footballing platforms, in Johannesburg, at the end of the year and in international tournaments in 2025.

The boys are Rebels Football Club’s winger Lunathi Putumani, Joburg Striker’s striker, Ibongwe Dotwana, Rebel’s right back, Amyoli Mnyengeza, Rebel’s goalkeeper, Iminathi Khayone Gontsana and Cape Town City’s Luphumlo "Kaka" Sifumba, from Philippi.

Cape Town City’s Luphumlo "Kaka" Sifumba, from Philippi, in an Engen Knockout Challenge group stage match against Hellenic two seasons ago. Sifumba made a remarkable entrance at the end of last season in the Absa Premiership (PSL), debuting in the top-flight against Orlando Pirates at just 17 years old.
